Bowing my head in shame,
I walk the path that takes me inward.
Rage is lost on my own follies,
The path ahead is still unclear.
The frailty of my courage swells unabated,
Smothering any hope, dismantling my dreams.
Torpidity is my bane,
Weighing down my fortitude.
The fire within dims,
the darkness inches closer.
My sight is limited,
I cannot see much further.
I hear the demon’s cackle,
The dance of the fire in its eyes.
Too late I grasp the truth of beast,
It is not about, but dances within me.
